*The city was founded on 2/1/1887 by Harvey Henderson and Daeida Wilcox. They envisioned it to be a Methodist community and the first commercial building was the church itself. In 1906 the people originally voted for annexation by 1913 the city was reincorporated into Los Angeles.
#The film industry began to leave N.Y to LA as early as 1900 D.W Griffith created a eleven minute film called Old California in 1911 a year later many film Companies had offices by 1912. !In 1922 after a few risqué films and the Roscoe “fatty” Arbuckle having orgy party’s where pedophile and heavy drug use was part of the norm. Will H. Hays a Presbyterian elder in the community openly spoke against the culture of the industry? Elsewhere in 37 states 100 censorship bills were being proposed. Hollywood film companies asked the former postmaster general under Harding (Hays) to develop a code (Do’s and Don’ts) and fines that went along with it. From 1930-1968 the motion picture was in effect. From 1930-1960 is the golden age of film making.
